Celia Balf is a former Division 1 soccer player for the University at Albany where she captained the Great Danes her junior and senior seasons. Her senior year she led the team to the program’s first America East Championship.
Her playing career included time with the semi-professional Under-23 Boston Aztec team, the Boston Breakers Reserve Team, as well the Olympic Development Program. After facing several knee surgeries, Celia shifted gears to cover the game as a sports journalist. She has written about soccer and established a career as a content creator landing jobs with the National Women’s Soccer League, Major League Soccer, NBC Olympics, and more. She has also juggled coaching and mentoring for years.
Celia has coached at the youth level since college and after moving to New York in 2016, spent time coaching with America SCORES as well as teaching dryland (training and conditioning practices) for young swimmers in Brooklyn.
As the new director of the Girls Program, Celia is excited to take on a role that oversees all of the girl teams. She is also thrilled to be working directly with Celtic!
